Have you ever thought about writing an ebook? If there is one obvious trend in book publishing it is that ebooks are rapidly gaining ground on traditional ‘paper’ books. Amazon is already selling more ebooks than traditional books and many are predicting that most (if not all) traditional books will go the way of the typewriter, fax machine and VHS recorder.

To write a book in the traditional publishing world you need a lot more than writing skills. You need to find an agent and a publisher as well as develop all sorts of editing and technical skills to make your book a reality. This is not the case with ebooks. Now all you need is an idea, a bit of motivation and some time and your book can be in front of your market, ready for them to buy, read and benefit from what you have to say. The whole process is incredibly easy! What little technical skill you do need to format your book (into a PDF or for Amazon’s Kindle format, for instance), you can buy for next to nothing on such websites as fiverr.com.
2. It costs virtually nothing.
With no physical production or materials required, there is almost no up front cost required to create an ebook. There is no more having to produce a certain number of copies and ‘hope’ they are going to sell as the ebook will be ‘delivered’ to your customer instantly and automatically.
Even marketing can be done for next to nothing. There are many websites that will promote your ebook for you on a pure commission on sales basis.
3. The world needs what you have to say.
Everyone, I believe, has a unique story that others in the world would like to hear, and whose lives would be enriched from doing so. With the entire world as the marketplace, it doesn’t matter how small the market for your subject will appear to be – there will be enough people out there to make it worth your while. Share what you have learned with others; you as well as they will be better off for it.
4. It’s the ultimate passive income earner.
Successful books and ebooks continue to sell for years on end. For a single effort you could be receiving income virtually indefinitely. Also, with production costs so low, the profits on ebooks are vastly greater. This means that you don’t need to sell many copies to create a very nice income.

An ebook is an inexpensive and highly effective way to get your message (and name) in front of a lot of people. By doing so, you can create a reputation as an authority in your field.
